Taranis Guitars

Taranis (pronounced TAIR‑uh‑niss) takes its name from the Celtic god of lightning and thunder. It’s a nod to Paul Woolson's Scottish heritage and a fitting emblem for two builders stepping boldly onto the “loud side” of the craft.

Taranis Guitars was founded by two Madison, Wis., luthiers  Paul Woolson of Woolson Soundcraft and Lane Venden of Lane’s Lutherie. The story goes Lane, a skilled electric guitar builder, asked Paul, a master acoustic builder, if Paul would be interested in building an electric. A dram of whiskey and five years of experimentation later the Taranis Voltmaster was born.

The Voltmaster, is a heavily chambered electric built for players who want a lightweight, do‑everything workhorse. Whether you want to Rock or play some thing grounded in the Jazz world, the Voltmaster can do it all.
