2026 Taranis Voltmaster Black Walnut Top

Taranis Volmaster — Black Walnut Top, TV Jones Super'Tron Pickups

Wood & Wire Fine Fretted Instruments is the exclusive dealer for the Taranis Volmaster electric guitar — a brand-new design from master luthiers that feels like it should have existed all along. The Volmaster is the result of an acoustic builder and an electric builder sitting down together to find the best of both worlds, and it shows: a beautiful black walnut top with a special iron-aging finish on front and back, built by hands that know exactly what makes an instrument disappear in your hands. Every detail just feels right. It's light enough to play a full night of gigs without a second thought, comfortable from the first strum, and versatile enough to move between styles without missing a beat.

Build & Materials

• Body: Paulownia
• Top: Black walnut, with special iron-aging finish on front and back
• Fingerboard: Ebony
• Headplate: Ebony
• Pickups: TV Jones Super'Tron
• Frets: Stainless steel

Size & Feel

• Scale Length: 24.75"
• Weight: ~4.5 lbs — remarkably light and comfortable for long gigs and long practice sessions alike

Sound Profile The Super'Tron's steel blades create a larger magnetized surface area, which increases inductance. Although its DC resistance matches the TV Classic, the Super'Tron delivers slightly more output, added body, and a subtly emphasized lower-midrange. It's warmer and less aggressive than the mid-'60s Gretsch Super'Trons, which used multiple thin laminated blades rather than a single solid piece of steel. This pickup excels at fingerstyle, jazz, punk, blues, and more.

In Good Company According to Paul Yandell, this early pickup design was a favorite of Chet Atkins.
