2026 Raymond Kraut Ironwood Mod-D Model + Cutaway
What does a dreadnought look and sound like when a restless innovator gets his hands on it? Something like the Mod D + cutaway — master luthier Raymond Kraut's largest-bodied instrument, its waist shifted forward toward a classical silhouette, its bracing and sound ports unlike anything else on the wall. Trained at the Robert-Venn School of Lutherie and apprenticed under the legendary Ervin Somogyi, Kraut builds super-responsive guitars that give players back exactly what they put in: rich, piano-like tone with extraordinary dynamic range.
With an astonishing architecture that recalls Frank Lloyd Wright more than a traditional dreadnought, this guitar looks like it should be in a museum, but it sounds and plays like an instrument by a renowned, world-class luthier should. Premiered at the Fretboard Summit in 2026, this guitar was the belle of the ball. And pictures do not do it justice.
