C1897 George Washburn Catalog Number 1590 Presentation 5 String Open Back Banjo Serial #8279

This vintage George Washburn Presentation banjo (catalog number 1590 and serial number 8279) was manufactured by Lyon & Healy in Chicago in either 1897 or 1898. 

This banjo has a beautiful inlay on the back of the headstock, a backstrap, and a carved heel with a floral pattern. Only the highest-grade Presentation models featured beautifully carved wood heels and deeply engraved pearl fingerboard inlays.
