2026 Milkman JG40 "Jerry" Milkman Alnico D120 Speaker

The JG40 is Milkman Sound's answer to a special project announced in 2024: a grab-and-go version of Jerry Garcia's iconic rig, borrowing the styling of his setup and aiming to nail his late-'70s guitar tone, when he was using JBL D and K 120 speakers pretty much exclusively. Milkman sourced about 50 original JBL speakers and had them rebuilt for a limited-edition run of amplifiers. The whole process was difficult and expensive, and in the end the amp stayed out of the regular lineup.

That changed in early 2025, when Milkman completed a faithful reproduction of the JBL speaker, the Milkman Alnico Speaker. Now the amp is part of the regular lineup, though availability remains somewhat restricted because of the time-consuming nature and expense of building it.

Built as a "clean machine," the JG40 maintains high definition, note separation, and dynamic response even when pushed.

• Speaker response: The Milkman D120 is a faithful recreation of the classic JBL K120 Alnico speaker, which is no longer made. It gives the amp tight lows, bright upper-mid chime, and zero flub.
• Warmth & EQ control: Volume, bright switch, treble, midrange, and bass controls let you dial in woody warmth or cutting single-coil articulation.
• Onboard reverb: A tube-driven spring reverb circuit with a dedicated reverb tone control adds lush, ambient space.
