2003 Merrill MB-OM-28 Very Good Condition
Jim Merrill is a celebrated luthier from Lancaster, Virginia who "specializes in building the highest quality, handmade, vintage replica guitars." Jim's instruments get as close to a true vintage pre-war Martin tone as you can find in a contemporary acoustic guitar without the five to six figure price tag associated with those famous golden era Martins.
This exceptionally lightly built Merrill OM-28 is a standout example of what Jim Merrill can do. Rich, woody, focused tone make this beauty the perfect partner for a singer-songwriter or a finger-style player. It's not as loud or boomy as a D-18, but it can keep up in the mix of a small jam session, too, due to its bright, sparkling treble.
The soft v-neck is as pleasant to play as one can find, and the low-but-not-too-low action will work for about any player. The owner of this guitar tells us it was "my erstwhile companion for 10 years. I sometimes greeted it like a dog that's missed me while I was away on a trip. I hope somebody else can bond with this guitar as I have. It's a wonderful guitar."
It has some small finish cracks on the top, a ding on the bass side of neck down by the headstock and some cracking at the endpin, which likely occurred during installation of the pickup system.
