1956 Gibson J-45 - Very Good Condition
This is a 1956 Gibson J-45, the "Workhorse" flat-top that defined the sound of American folk, country, and blues. Its factory order number, V 4397-8, is stamped inside on the neck block; the "V" prefix places it squarely in 1956. Gibson didn't use conventional serial numbers on flat-tops until 1961.
The round-shoulder slope-shoulder dreadnought body pairs a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, finished in Gibson's classic sunburst. After seven decades, the top has opened up into the warm, woody, midrange-rich voice that players chase. It's dry and punchy, with a fundamental-heavy thump that sits perfectly behind a vocal. The mahogany neck carries a full, comfortable 1950s profile and a rosewood fingerboard.
The guitar is in very good condition overall, with honest playwear consistent with its age and a character no modern reissue can replicate. Vintage J-45s from this era are increasingly scarce, prized by recording artists and collectors alike. This is a genuine piece of Gibson history, ready to be played.
Comes with a chipboard case.
