1918 Gibson F2 Mandolin with Original Case Serial #47001

Sale price$2,000.00

This 1918 Gibson F2 Artist Model Mandolin is a fascinating piece of Golden Era American luthiery from the legendary Kalamazoo factory.

This centenarian features the iconic two-point scroll body, a rich finish, and that beautiful oval soundhole. Remarkably, it remains completely playable with a sweet, resonant, and throaty voice. Adding immense historical value to this package, the original pickguard is still intact, along with its original hardshell case, which has protected it for over a century.
However, it does exhibit a sunken top around the bridge area—a common structural issue for Gibson oval-holes of this vintage. While it holds tuning and plays well right now, it will eventually require a luthier's touch to reinforce the top for long-term stability. Because of this, it is being offered strictly AS-IS and priced accordingly.

For the player looking for affordable vintage Gibson mojo, or the collector seeking a rewarding project, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine Golden Era F-style mandolin with its most coveted original appointments at a fraction of its usual market value.
