The Volmaster is the result of an acoustic builder and an electric builder sitting down together to find the best of both worlds, and it shows: a beautiful black walnut top with a special iron-aging finish on front and back, built by hands that know exactly what makes an instrument disappear in your hands. Every detail just feels right. It's light enough to play a full night of gigs without a second thought, comfortable from the first strum, and versatile enough to move between styles without missing a beat.

Build & Materials

Body: Paulownia

Top: Black walnut, with special iron-aging finish on front and back

Fingerboard: Ebony

Headplate: Ebony

Pickups: TV Jones Super'Tron

Frets: Stainless steel

Size & Feel

Scale Length: 24.75"

Weight: ~4.5 lbs — remarkably light and comfortable for long gigs and long practice sessions alike

Sound Profile The Super'Tron's steel blades create a larger magnetized surface area, which increases inductance. Although its DC resistance matches the TV Classic, the Super'Tron delivers slightly more output, added body, and a subtly emphasized lower-midrange. It's warmer and less aggressive than the mid-'60s Gretsch Super'Trons, which used multiple thin laminated blades rather than a single solid piece of steel. This pickup excels at fingerstyle, jazz, punk, blues, and more.

In Good Company According to Paul Yandell, this early pickup design was a favorite of Chet Atkins.

The Details

Designed and built through a collaboration between master acoustic and electric luthiers

A genuinely new design — the kind of instrument that feels like it should have existed all along

Wood & Wire is the exclusive dealer for this model

One-of-a-kind

Includes hardshell case

In stock now at Wood & Wire.
